JAMES B. EDWARDS, 70, of Bel Air, died at University of Maryland Hospital on May 19, 2003. Born in Frogtown, Maryland, he was the son of the late George Robert and Dorsie M. Byrd Edwards. In 1999, he retired from HCFA (Healthcare and Finance Administration) in Woodlawn where he was a computer system analyst. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he earned the rank of Corporal. He was assigned to Company G of the 7th Calvary Regiment which was part of the Honor Guard. A member of Oak Grove Baptist Church since 1972, his grandparents were charter members of the church. He loved playing golf, bowling and was a member of the Harford Carvers making decorative decoys. He enjoyed working part time for Bel Air Auto Auction, driving every Thursday.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 46 years, Eleanor O. (nee Hicks) Edwards, a son and his wife, Jerry Brian and Elizabeth (nee Harrell) Edwards of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers, Robert J. Edwards of Aberdeen and William F. Edwards of Perry Hall; a sister, Dolores M. Moennich of Arbutus; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard W. Edwards and two sisters, Lorraine Edwards and Vivian Edwards.
Pallbearers will be: Dale Heitkamp, Bill Jacobs, Clifford Stoecker, Ralph Walls, Joe Dewey, Aubrey Stewart and Ed Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be: Oak Grove Ushers and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Piano Fund, 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015.
