James Alden Brown, age 78, passed away at his Belcamp home on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Born in Chestnut Hill, NC, James was the beloved husband of Clara (Peak) Brown for 54 years and the devoted son of the late Arley V. Brown and Nina (Caldwell) Brown. He is survived by two brothers, SMG (RET.) Clifford Brown Sr. of Darlington, MD and Dr. William Brown of Baltimore, MD, plus many nieces and nephews.
After graduating as Valedictorian of his Nathans Creek, NC High School class in 1953, Mr. Brown moved to Harford County, MD seeking employment, He worked many years at Wiley Manufacturing as an office manager before completing his career at Bell South Corporation in Columbia, MD in corporate communication sales.
James enjoyed traveling, NASCAR and was an avid reader. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bel Air, MD. He possessed a kind and gentle spirit and was loved by all who knew him.
Honorary pallbearers were SGM(RET.) Clifford Brown Sr., Clifford Brown Jr., Dr. William Brown, Gerald Caldwell, John Fox, Alan Thompson, Capt. Kent Caldwell, and Walter M. Powers. Eric Brown, Kenneth Brown, Jason Mosely, Kevin Fox, Alan Goodman and Dr. Arthur Schwartz served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236-0025.
