JACKIE R. PIERCE, age 59, of Edgewood, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on October 18, 2003. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edwin LeRoy and Myrtle Charlotte Sparkes Smith. She had worked for the Department of Social Services for 35 years as an administrative assistant and was also a former MVA employee. She enjoyed crocheting, Bingo, computers, her grandchildren, romance novels, and Zelda games. She was a resident of Harford County for 37 years.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her husband of 40 years, LeRoy Leonard Pierce; five children, William Michael Pierce of Edgewood; Charlotte Virginia Summers and her husband, Eric Wayne Summers of Glen Burnie; Patricia Jacquelene Barthel and her husband, Teddy James Barthel of Edgewood; Leonard LeRoy Pierce of Edgewood; Elizabeth Violet Stone and her husband, Christopher Dwayne Stone of Edgewood; two sisters, Marlene A. Saffield of Brooklyn, MD; Ruth D. Burrell and her husband, Charles W. Burrell of Baltimore; five grandchildren, Samatha Anne Pierce; Kyle James Barthel; Courtney Jacquelene Barthel; Dakota Lyn Barthel; and Brittany Nicole Barthel, all of Edgewood. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Robert W. Sparkes.
Pallbearers will be: Teddy Barthel, Eric Summers, Christopher Stone, Bill Pierce, Leonard Pierce, Chuck Burrell, and Jason Burrell.
