Jack Vernon Pollitt Sr., age 91, of Harrisburg, PA, died on June 4, 2010 at Community General Hospital in Harrisburg. Born in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Andrew Lewis and Wilhelmina Hansell Pollitt and husband, for 52 years, of the late Lillian Rose Pollitt. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during WWII. He retired in 1978 from Conrail in Baltimore where he was a Freight Conductor and was a NASCAR and Cincinnati Bengal's fan. He also enjoyed gardening and reading Louis L'Amour books.
Mr. Pollitt is survived by his son, Jack V. Pollitt Jr. and wife, Tina, of Aberdeen, MD; daughter, Carol Ricci of Finksburg, MD, Rosemarie W. Baker and husband, Neill, of Harrisburg, PA; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. There is one great-great-grandchild expected in August. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Joan Daugherty, and son-in-law, Pete Ricci.
