JACK TIPTON, age 79, of Jarrettsville, MD, died on September 21, 2006 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Jarrettsville, MD, he was the son of the late John Martin Tipton Sr. and the late Nellie Mae Hess Tipton. He was a maintenance supervisor in the Harford County Government and retired from there after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company for 62 years, where he held offices of Assistant Chief and was inducted into the Harford-Cecil Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was also a member of the State Line Motorcycle Club. He was a self employed welder for many years and also drove cars for Keene Dodge for many years. He enjoyed working on his father’s farm and was an avid goose and rabbit hunter. He was also a Nascar fan.
Mr. Tipton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna S. Tipton (nee Smith) of Jarrettsville, MD; two daughters, Bonnie L. Tipton and Connie T. Martin, both of Jarrettsville, MD; one sister, Kathryn T. Kerr of Whiteford, MD; and two grandchildren, Jack Martin and his wife Tiffany and Renee N. Martin, both of Jarrettsville, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betsy T. Isaac.
Pallbearers were William Markley, William Grove, George Denbow, Phil Hartline, John Lassack, Rudy Walter, William Poole, and William Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were the Jarrettsville Fire Company.
