Jack R. Mitchum Jr.

May 11, 1957 — June 26, 2011

Jack R. Mitchum, age 54, died on June 26th at Stella Maris Hospice after battling a long illness. He was a longtime resident of Harford County. Jack was a 1975 graduate of Joppatowne High School where he excelled at football and basketball. After graduating high school, Jack became a Master Electrician and taught the Electrical Apprenticeship Program at Harford Community College for 20 years. Among Jack's friends and family, he was known as the life of the party.

He was married for 30 years to his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Mitchum. They enjoyed raising their beloved daughter Lyndsey Mitchum. Going to her concerts and sporting events, as well as, traveling and skiing, were their favorite activities.

Jack is survived by Harold Moretz, who raised him from childhood along with his wife, the late Lorraine Moretz. He is also survived by brothers, Tim Mitchum, Brian Moretz, Randy Moretz, John Moretz, Dan Cook; and sister, Sharon Cook. Other family members include Janet and Tom Ewers; beloved mother-in-law, Margie Cumming, Robert and Betsy Cumming, Bill and Becca Cumming, Gordon and Karen Cumming, and many nieces and nephews. He and Charlotte shared a very special friendship with Barb Ritgert.
