Jack E. Hatcher, age 92, of Forest Hill, Maryland passed away on January 23, 2024, at Forest Hill Heights in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Bel Air, Maryland, he was the son of the late James and Edna (Browne) Hatcher and husband of the late Evelyn (Roope) Hatcher. He was a former member of the Isaac Walton League, and an honorary member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Co. He graduated from Dublin High School in 1948. In 1951, he married Evelyn Roope also of Harford County. He owned & operated Hatcher's Citgo in Bel Air for 28 years, retiring in 1988. Jack enjoyed horse racing and all the things that went along with it, avid fisherman and hunter and listening to bluegrass music, and eating seafood. He owned and raced several horses over the years. He became an employee of the Bel Air Racetrack at the age of 10 and was involved in "hot walking" the horses after they had run their races. He had been employed by Edgewood Arsenal.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Linda Fitzgerald, and Barbara Ortiz; special son, Douglas (Tina) Hinkle; grandchildren, Jan Marie Ingoglia, Brandy Nicole Winter, and Desiree Marie Bergstrasser; great-granddaughters, Riley Victoria Howser, and Raelyn Brielle Winter.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brothers, Lewis T. Hatcher, and Herbert Thomas Hatcher. sisters, Phyllis Irene Sherman, and Sydney Peters.
