Irvin Jerome Clancy, age 90, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 22, 2010 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Virgil and Ruth Estelle Rambo Clancy, and husband of the late Marjorie Ann Clancy and Nancy Catherine Clancy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 29th Infantry Division, 175 Regiment Rangers, Company K, where he went ashore on Omaha Beach at D-Day. He also served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatres and was awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and one Silver Star. He was a member of American Legion Post #39, DAV Post #15, and the 29th Division Association. He loved woodworking and was an avid, camper, boater, fisherman, crabber, and hunter.
Mr. Clancy is survived by his sons, Martin Clancy of Forest Hill, MD, Patrick Clancy of Edgewood, MD, Kevin Clancy of Ocean City, NJ, Gary McMillan of Bel Air, MD; daughters, Janice Spellman and Linda Hartling, both of Bel Air, MD and Roxanne McMillan-Hild of Hampstead, MD; sister Betty Hinton of Greenville, IL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Clancy, Martin Clancy Jr., Gary McMillan, Tim Kuzma, Rick Spellman, Ed Spellman, Rusty Creswell and Jack Finn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Rhinehart and Cletus Heldman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 96766, Washington, DC 20090-6766.
