IRVIN "IRV" C. STOBIE, JR., age 66, of Joppatowne, MD, died at his home on May 7, 2008. Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Irvin Clem Stobie, Sr. and the late Edith Johanna Schaum Stobie. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD after 33 years of service where he worked at the Ballistics Research Lab as a Chemist specializing in interior ballistics. A Joppatowne resident for 40 years, he was a member of the Joppatowne Lions Club. He was a volunteer and instructor for AARP tax volunteers and a home teacher for Harford County Public Schools for 11 years. He was an avid sportsman and played golf, softball, baseball, racket ball and was a hunter, boater, and hiker. He was a Little League coach, girl's soccer coach and girl's softball coach for Joppatowne Recreation Council. He traveled extensively all over the world.
Mr. Stobie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie E. Stobie of Joppa, MD; a daughter, Amy E. Crandall and her husband, Robert, of Chatham, NJ; a son-in-law, Jerry Simon of Forest Hill, MD; a brother, Edward Stobie of Columbia, MO; and three grandchildren, Jessica E. Crandall, Timothy M. Crandall, and Michael P. Crandall, all of Chatham, NJ. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Emily M. Simon.
