Iris Lee Kimmel, age 68, of Joppa, MD passed from this life on November 13, 2015 at her home. Born in Prince George's County, MD, Mrs. Kimmel was a graduate of Edgewood High School. She is the daughter of the late Marie Schmidt Crusse and wife and soul-mate of 47 years to the late Edward Lawrence Kimmel. She worked for the Board of Education for 31 years, was a longtime member and Eucharistic Minister of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Joppa and was a volunteer for Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. She was very involved with feeding the homeless at the Welcome One Shelter in Riverside and did many behind the scenes things to support her husband's volunteer activities. She was an avid Bingo player, loved Giovanni's Italian Restaurant, spending time with her grandchildren, and loved her animals, especially Isabelle.
Mrs. Kimmel is survived by her sons, Kevin E. Kimmel (Nicole) of Joppa and Keith W. Kimmel (Dana) of Joppa; daughters, Kelly L. La Valley (Ronald) of Joppa and Mary Vest Thompson (Ed) of Baltimore; sisters, Janice Crusse of Joppa and Carolyn Mitchum (Timothy) of Joppa; and grandchildren, Riane and Ashlynn McShane and Christian La Valley, Riley, Keirra, Karter and Kameron Kimmel, Heather Notorangelo, Gavin Mast and Haley Anders.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Kimmel and Keith Kimmel; Ronald and Christian La Valley; Timothy, Sean and Kyle Mitchum; and James Hornbarger.
