Irene A. Grenoble Campbell, 93, of Belcamp, Maryland, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her home.
Born December 4, 1924 in Pine Creek Twp., Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Doyle Edward and Ellen Matilda (Helms) Grenoble. On June 6, 1946 she married the late Max E. Campbell and together they celebrated 32 years of marriage before his death in 1979.
Irene was a 1942 graduate of Lock Haven (Pennsylvania) High School. She worked for many years at the First National Bank of Lock Haven. Upon moving to New York in 1965 she worked at the former Bank of New York in Endicott New York, now Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, where she retired in 1984 as an Assistant Treasurer. She then moved to Maryland to live near her daughter and worked in real-estate as a bookkeeper and later for American Greeting Card Company as a store set up associate.
While living in Pennsylvania she, along with her husband Max and their daughter Liz, was a member of the First Church of Christ in Flemington and was very active during those years. Upon moving to New York State, the family was actively involved in the work of the First Church of Christ in Binghamton, NY. After her move to Maryland she was a member of the Fork Christian Church, Kingsville, Maryland where she was a faithful servant and participant in activities for many years until her health began to decline.
Surviving is one daughter, Lizabeth Ann Mentzer, of Belcamp, Maryland; one sister Elsie Hazell, of Chipley, Florida; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Grenoble, of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Doyle E. Grenoble, II.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Irene’s name be made to either His Place Community Center, P.O. Box 4119, Pittsburgh, PA 15202 or South Jersey Evangelism, P.O. Box 2115, Vineland, NJ 08362
