Iona P. Rose

Iona P. Rose, age 90, of Bel Air died at home on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. She was the beloved wife of the late Estes L. Rose. Born October 13, 1916 in Nathan’s Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Winfield and Jane Howell Pennington.

Mrs. Rose moved to Bel Air in October 1955 and has lived in Harford County for over 60 years. She was a homemaker, worked for the Glenn L. Martin Aviation Company, the Bendix Corporation and Bata Shoe Company. During her years of employment she installed electrical wiring in WWII aircraft, assembled electrical components and was a sewing machine operator.

Mrs. Rose was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Keenager’s Club. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening through her 90th year of life and was an excellent seamstress.

Mrs. Rose is survived by three daughters Betty L. Fox of Asheville, NC, Patricia L. Colletta and husband George, of Whiteford, MD and Diane Hanna and husband, Mark of Airville, PA; six grandchildren, Stephanie Bosley and husband Chris, of Bel Air, MD, Anastasia Trent and husband, Craig of Middletown, RI, Jessica A. Colletta of Towson, MD, Joshua Hanna of Felton, PA, Casey Hanna of Airville, PA and Dana Edwards of Florida; and four great-grandchildren, Hailee Bosley, Logan Bosley, Madison Bosley, all of Bel Air, MD and Caroline Trent of Middletown, RI.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son-in-law, Wade Fox, husband of Betty L. Fox, step-daughter Christine Culler; eight brothers, Gordon, Glenn, Frank, Jones, Roger, Guy, Woodrow and Carl Pennington; and three sisters, Ola Howell, Blanche DiBennedetto and Fannie McMillan.
