I. Dale Pennington, age 85, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 29, 2023 at Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Smyth, Virginia, he was the son of Wilson and Rena (Combs) Pennington and husband of the late Alice (Schulte) Pennington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Holter's Oil Company after over 30 years of service as a truck driver. He was a lifetime member of Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company for over 50 years and was inducted into the Harford - Cecil Volunteer Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame. Since retirement, he enjoyed staying involved in administrative duties at Abingdon Fire Company including building maintenance, the technical support committee (Auxiliary) and the Abingdon Fire Company Charity Quilters Club. Dale was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Isaac Walton League of America – Sportsman’s Chapter, served as Scoutmaster for Troop 937 Boy Scouts of America, was a former member of Otter Point Yacht Club and the United States Coast Guard reserve.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Robin (Ken) Jorgenson; son, Steven Pennington and his partner, Tara Bersani; grandchildren, Sean Jorgenson and Dalaney Bersani; and sisters, Betty Remines and Ruth Tolliver.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Lee Pennington.
