Hun Warren Monroe, age 67, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on December 15, 2013 at his home. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Samuel Monroe Sr. and Captora Lavender. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during the Vietnam War. He was trained as a Navy SERE and the recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired, after 20 years of service, from the Social Security Administration where he was a Computer Programmer. A member of AMES United Methodist Church he was a mentor to young people. He enjoyed listening to Jazz and playing sports which included basketball
and football.
Mr. Monroe is survived by his wife, LaVerne Monroe; sons, Hun W. Monroe Jr. and wife, Rachel, of Baltimore and Paul L. Fields of Chicago, IL; daughters, Miki K. Monroe and fiancé, Selwyn Hawthorne, of Belcamp and Vanessa N. Strunk and husband, Timothy, of Annapolis; siblings, Samuel Monroe Jr. and Deborah E. Monroe, both of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Jasmine N. Monroe, Paul L. Fields Jr. and Angelica D. Fields; mother-in-law, Mary Harris and brother-in-law, Duane Harris both of Edgewood and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
