Hoyie Ellis

Hoyie Ellis, age 88, of Darlington, MD, died on November 7, 2009 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in Wilkes County, NC, he was the son of the late Richard Samuel and Nora Alice Haynes Ellis, and husband, for 65 years, of the late Edna V. Ellis. He worked for Frank Garrett as an electrician and plumber, and mowed grass for different businesses in Darlington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking, and sitting on his front porch, and was very much loved by his children.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his son, Robert L. Ellis of Darlington, MD; daughters, Wilma I. Anthony of Marathon, FL, Nora F. Temple of Pylesville, MD, Rita R. Dalton of Airville, PA, Arbutus Kyzer of Myakka City, FL, Lorretta S. Bemcomo of Darlington, MD; brothers, Luther Ellis of Cardiff, MD, Houston Ellis of Street, MD; sisters, Wilma Jean Roberts and Lucille Morgan, both of Bel Air, MD, and Myrtle Shippley of NC; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by daughters, Joanne Green-Clark and Geraldine Ellis; and brothers, Howard, Homer, and Romei Ellis.

Pallbearers will be Ray, Mike, and Willie Dalton, Brian White, David Long, and Rick Clark. Alternate pallbearers will be Will Lambert and David Temple.
