Beloved husband of Bernadine Elizabeth Mitchell entered Heaven March 6, 2005 at the age of 75. He died at his residence in Joppa. Born in Baltimore City, he was the son of the late Howard Thomas Mitchell, Sr. and Bessie Jane McMillan Mitchell. He retired from Continental Can Company and worked for Maryland Environmental in Cockeysville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as his hobbies, but most important was serving his Lord and being active in his church.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: DiAnn Norman and her husband, Charles Norman of Edgewood; Howard Thomas Mitchell III (Butch) and his wife, Pam Mitchell of Aberdeen; and Joyce Wilson and her husband, Wayne Wilson of Edgewood. His six grandchildren are: Charles Norman, Jr. (Chuck) and his wife, Sandee of Edgewood; Jamie Williams and her husband, John of Edgewood; Ayrin Wilmoth and her husband, Kenny of Delta, PA; Teresa Pequeno and her husband, Brad of Abingdon; Becky Mitchell of Aberdeen; Jacob Wilson and his wife, Sarah of Aberdeen. His seven great-grandchildren are: Alyssa Williams of Edgewood; Kai Pequeno of Abingdon, Jesse Norman of Edgewood, Dominic Pequeno of Abingdon; Hayley Williams of Edgewood; Ashley Wilmoth of Delta, PA; and Aaron Wilmoth of Delta, PA.
He was a cherished member of New Life Baptist Church in White Marsh, MD. He served his Lord Jesus by preaching in nursing homes and leading the singing at the Karis House and Baltimore Rescue Mission. He led many souls to Jesus and taught Sunday school for over 35 years. He served as deacon at Faith Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church. He worked on the Sunday School Bus ministry for many years. He was a faithful prayer warrior and looked for the return of his Lord every morning. His favorite hymn was “The Old Rugged Cross”. He memorized over 150 Bible verses and quoted them daily.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Norman, Wayne Wilson, Charles Norman, Jr. (Chuck), Jacob Wilson, John Williams, Brad Pequeno and Kenny Wilmoth.
