HOWARD F. CHILDERS, SR., age 86, of Aberdeen, died in Harford Memorial Hospital on February 29, 2004. Born in Grassy Creek, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Joseph Cephas and Susann Caudill Childers, and the husband of the late Frances N. Graybeal Childers. He worked as a harvest manager for Paul Harlan in Churchville. He also worked as a carpenter for 20 years prior to his retirement for Jaeger Construction. He was a member of Carsins Run Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving away the vegetables he raised.
Mr. Childers is survived by one son, Howard F. Childers, Jr. of Bel Air; one step-son, Bryan R. Burleson of Elizabethton, TN; one brother, Rev. G. Ford Childers of Aberdeen; one sister, Bertie Brown of Holtwood, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Linda E. Childers of Darlington; Howard F. Childers, III of Secane, Pennsylvania; and Dorothy F. Childers of Costa Mesa, California. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia A. McAllister Childers.
Pallbearers will be Howard F. Childers, III, Kirk Wimer, Farley Mitchell, David Stout, Claude Robinson and Dennis Williams.
