Hilary Leonard Klug

July 26, 1945 — December 18, 2024

Hilary Leonard Klug, age 79, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, Hilary was the beloved son of the late John Klug and Rosemarie Kuntz. He was the devoted husband of Accursia (Moncada) Klug.

Hilary was a proud member of the Elks, BPOE Abingdon Lodge 2354, and the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Washington, DC. Known for his kind and generous spirit, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was affectionately called "Papa" by all who knew him.

Hilary found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sipping martinis, watching old Westerns and NASCAR, and tending to his garden. His family cherished his daily scripture messages, which he faithfully sent to his siblings and other loved ones, offering them a source of inspiration and comfort.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and his close bond with them brought him immeasurable happiness.

Hilary is survived by his loving wife, Accursia; daughters Christina (Eugene Streett) Stevens and Stefanie (David) Reinhardt; son Patrick (Christine) Klug; brothers Lemoine (Kay) Klug and William Klug; sisters Marlene Defibaugh, Judith (Carl) Hoerman, Mary Jo (Paul) Tait, Cathy (Dan) Converse, and Donna Worley (Ron Barnett); grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Andrew, Evan, Victoria, and Kevin; and great-grandchildren Ella, Ryder, and Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Christopher Klug; brothers James Klug, Daniel Klug, and Gary Klug; brother-in-law Ronald Defibaugh and Dick Falkenstein; and sister-in-law Maureen Klug.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kaufman Cancer Center, 500 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air, MD 21014, in honor of Hilary’s memory.

Hilary’s life was a testament to love, family, and faith. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
