HERSCHEL F. BAILEY, age 86, of Forest Hill, died at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore on May 19, 2004. Born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ferdinand Willard and Cleta Swartz Bailey. He had worked as a sales executive for Wapakoneta Machine Co. He was a member of the American Legion of Bel Air, a charter member of the Maryland Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Bush River Yacht Club. An avid golfer, he was the 1st and 10th club champion of the Maryland Golf and Country Club. He was also an avid Colt’s football fan. He had owned and operated the B & R Tool and Die Company, a steel fabrication company, and the H.B. Company, a tool grinding company.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife of 65 years, H. Louise Disney Bailey; one son, Scott D. Bailey and his wife, Joyce of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; one daughter, Diann B. Poston and her husband, Hugh, Jr. of Keyser, West Virginia; one brother, John Bailey of Wapakoneta, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Mabel C. Emerson.
Pallbearers will be: Greg Spencer, Steve Spencer, Bobby Capley, and Jimmy Capley.
