Herbert Ray Maines

Herbert Ray Maines, age 89, of Darlington, MD, passed away on November 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Abingdon, VA, he was the son of the late Charles Franklin Maines Sr. and Minnie Blanche Bebber Maines and husband, for 68 years, of the late Ruby V. Childers Maines. He and his wife were the last two charter members for Welcome Home Baptist Church which was established in 1949. He retired, after 40 years, as a residential painter. He loved his vegetable garden and enjoyed woodworking and restoring Chevy trucks.

Mr. Maines is survived by three daughters, Shirley Linkous of Fallston, MD, Betty R. Buettner of Edgewood, MD, and Patricia A. Mangold of Elkton, MD; two sisters, Jacqueline Curry of Darlington, MD and Mary Falter of Talent, OR; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
