Herbert Jackson Davis, Sr., 85, of Bel Air, passed away comfortably on October 9, 2022. Born in Chesapeake City, he was the son of Herbert and Anna (Moore) Davis. He married Joyce (Rozell) Davis in 1958 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Herb graduated high school in Bel Air in 1955. He was then drafted and served 4 years in the US Air Force and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. After leaving the service, he worked for The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company until he retired.
Herb played in the Harford County men’s fast pitch softball league for Emmorton Electric. He also enjoyed crabbing, fishing, playing shuffleboard, NASCAR, football and spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion Post 39 – Bel Air and the Bel Air MOOSE Lodge in Forest Hill where he helped organize dances and participated in many other activities.
Herb is survived by his son, Herbert Davis, Jr.; his daughter, Donna (Davis) Pumphrey and his grandchildren, Garrett Davis, Kaylee Davis and Ryan Pumphrey.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Rozell) Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bel Air MOOSE Lodge, P.O. Box 187, Forest Hill, MD 21050.
