Henry Joseph Butler entered into rest on June 14, 2008, in Arnold, Maryland. He was born in 1910 in Jessup, Maryland, the son of Sigmund and Loretta Butler. He was raised in Baltimore, attended Corpus Christi Church, and graduated from Loyola High School. During the Second World War, his aptitude in electronics earned him a position as an engineer with the Bendix Corporation. For most of his career he worked at Westinghouse in Glen Burnie. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, he earned the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1955.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Lucy Robinson Butler, his sister Grace Murdoch, and his brother William Butler. He is survived by his daughters, Lucy Butler Krofl of Fallston and Erin Butler Senkel of Arnold; his son H. Joseph Butler of Fort Worth, Texas; and his grandchildren Caitlin Senkel, Jacob Senkel, both of Baltimore, MD, and Rachel Butler of Fort Worth, Texas.
His long and healthy life was characterized by a devotion to family and friends, and a love of learning and the world of ideas. His diverse hobbies and interests included reading, gourmet cooking, amateur radio, photography, woodworking, skiing, and boating.
