Henry D. Sturgill Sr.

Henry D. Sturgill Sr., age 87, of Darlington, MD passed away on January 23, 2017 at his home. Born in Piney Creek, NC, on April 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Dennis M. and Lora Mae (Woodie) Sturgill and husband of 65 years to the late Jean (Jourdan) Sturgill. A hard working, dedicated husband, father and grandfather, his family was important to him. He worked as a farmer for many years until the early 60's, and then was employed for over 40 years at Interpace/LockJoint as a welder. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years, working around the house, being outdoors and spending time with his beloved dog Ruby.

Children include his four daughters, Patricia A. Sturgill (Alan) of Abingdon, Kathy L. Krout of Abingdon , Jeanine Worthington and husband Ron of Port Deposit and the late Sandy A. Sexton; two sons, Darrel Sturgill Jr. and wife Patty of Whiteford and Tim L. Sturgill and wife Margie of Churchville; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel Ray, Bob, Dennis and Bud Sturgill and sister, Merle Coulson.
