Henrietta Carolyn Kunkel, age 92, formerly of Dundalk, Maryland, passed away on May 10, 2022 after a short stay at Hart Heritage Estates in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Louis Blische and Sophia (Rode) Kirk and wife of the late Robert (Bob) W. Kunkel, Sr. Henrietta was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gray Manor until 2002 when she moved to Sun City Center, Florida. She moved to Bel Air, MD with her husband before settling in at Oak Crest in Parkville, MD. Henrietta, also known as “Yetta” or “Yetts”, began her working career as a bookkeeper for Standard Oil in Baltimore. After raising her three sons, she returned to the workforce as an office administrator and bookkeeper for Patapsco Senior High School in Baltimore County. She retired in 1991 after 20 years of service. Henrietta enjoyed traveling, dancing, singing in church choir, gardening and watching her sons play sports. The Baltimore Orioles, Colts & Ravens were her rooting favorites and Ocean City, Maryland where she & Bob had a home, was a favorite destination.
Henrietta is survived by her sons and daughters-in-laws, Ronald A. (& Debra) Kunkel of Glen Rock, PA, Randy S. (& Virginia) Kunkel of Southport, NC, and Robert W. (& Marianne) Kunkel, Jr. of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, Scott Kunkel, Erica Dowell, Kristin Doherty, Lauren Kunkel, and Kurt Kunkel; great-grandchildren, Lucas Doherty, and Henry Dowell. She was preceded in death by daughter, Kathy Ann Kunkel, grandchild Kevin Kunkel, brothers, Charles and David Blische, sisters, Marie Sheesley, Lillian Grande, Emma Kepp, and Lorraine Gardner.
