Helen R. Preisendorfer, age 96, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on February 21, 2021 in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Mathews County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Captain Robert and Virginia (Callis) Rainier and wife of the late Robert A. Preisendorfer. Helen was a devout Christian. She graduated from Mathews High School in 1942. She and her husband married in 1949 in the Rectory of the St. Dominic’s Church in Hamilton. She attended St. John’s of Hamilton United Methodist Church for many years. She worked as a long-distance phone operator for over 40 years with C&P Telephone which is now known as Verizon. She was a huge fan of the original Perry Mason shows, had a love for gardening, and enjoyed dancing. She even won a Twist dance contest with her brother-in-law, Dahle Amendt in 1963.
Helen is survived by four daughters, Mary Hastler and her husband Mark, Cathy Preisendorfer, Linda Preisendorfer, Roberta Lipieko and her husband Frank; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and friends and neighbors that she kept near and dear to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, 4185 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035.
