Helen Sangermano died on December 17, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, Sr., her daughter Maria Gallippi, her son Joe Jr. and his wife Trinidad; three grandchildren, Anthony and Concetta Gallippi and Cassandra Sangermano, and one great grandson Nicholas Ramirez. She is also survived by her brother, William Masapollo and his wife Patricia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Helen moved to Maryland in 1956. She was active in her community serving as Area Coordinator for the Girl Scout Council of Central Maryland and served as President of the PTA at both Perry Hall Junior and Senior High Schools.
She moved to Ocean City, Maryland full time in 1986. She held many offices as a member of the GFWC Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs, starting as President of GFWC Women's Club of Ocean City. She was Recording Secretary and later President of the Eastern Shore District of the Maryland Federation. She served as State Recording Secretary of the GFWC Maryland Federation. She was also a member of the GFWC Wicomico Women's Club, Inc., and served as Recording Secretary and President. During her many years in the Women's Club, one of the programs she was passionate about was TREE-mendous MD. She was instrumental in saving a very special tree in Salisbury, MD.
Helen was a Lector and Special Minister of the Eucharist, as well as a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at her church, St. Mary's Star of the Sea/Holy Savior, in Ocean City, MD.
