Hayes "Buster" Harris Iii

Hayes “Buster” Harris III, age 75, of Joppa, MD passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Van Bibber, MD on January 27, 1942, he was the son of the late Hayes Jr. and Mary Ellen Harris of Edgewood. His first job was as a cook at the Edgewood Diner where he met the love of his life, Wanda Louise Whitt. They were married on May 2 and celebrated 46 years of marriage before her passing in 2004. He worked at Belko Corporation in Kingsville, MD where he served as Union President for many years. He later continued as a truck driver and safety instructor for B&H Trucking Company. He enjoyed truck driving but his great joy was being in the woods hunting with his brother Lanny. He will be dearly missed by his hunting buddies Lanny, Tracy and Bobby. He was a lifelong member of the Edgewood Assembly of God Church. He served faithfully in many areas. As a bus driver, the Board of Deacons, and cooking for the Men’s Ministry Breakfast and Cookouts. He was always one of the first to help anyone in need. He loved having family cookouts with extended family throughout the years.

He is survived by his son Hayes “Buck” Harris IV and wife, Crystal, of Fawn Grove, PA; two daughters, Anita L. Green and husband, Randy, of Joppa and Janis K. Rivers of Edgewood; a brother Lanny Harris of Abingdon and three sisters, Betty Crookshanks and Polly Shunk of Edgewood, and Diana Jennings of Hickory; five grandchildren, Christina Kilian (Scott), Rickey Harris (Mary), Steven Rivers, Hannah and Hayes “Bobby” Harris V; one great-grandson, Shawn Andrews; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him very much.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Rickey E. Harris.

Pallbearers will be O. Lanny Harris, Hayes Harris IV, Rickey Harris, Steven Rivers, Tony Shunk, Hayes Shunk, Jesse Jordan and Adam Stansbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgewood Assembly of God, 803 Edgewood Road, Edgewood, MD 21040.
