Harry Alexander Chavez Sr., age 72, of Edgewood, MD, died on January 27, 2009 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD. Born in Madison, WI, he was the son of the late Alexander Ferdinand and Erika Elsa Gottschalk Chavez. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as an MP. A Harford County resident for 30 years, he had worked as a bus driver for Greyhound, from which he retired. He later owned and operated Eagle Lock and Key in Joppa, and then became a bus driver for Harford County Public Schools, and finally Harford County Transportation. He loved trains and enjoyed both model building and fishing.
Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife of 20 years, Charlotte M. Fisher Chavez of Edgewood, MD; son, Harry Alexander Chavez Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD; daughter, Barbara I. Chavez Knight of Pasadena, MD; step-daughters, Leslie Johnson of Joppa, MD, and Deana Keiter and Stacey Amos, both of Bel Air, MD; two grandchildren, Melissa A. Chavez and Brittany J. Bauer; six great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
