Harold Smith

August 11, 1916 — January 15, 2006

HAROLD SMITH, age 89, of Bel Air, MD, died on January 15, 2006 at his home. Born in Creswell, MD, he was the son of the late Harold Edgar Smith and Helen Honore Tredwell Story. He was a dairy farmer all of his life who owned and operated the family farm at Creswell. Mr. Smith was also Chairman of the Board of Southern States Petroleum and Southern States Cooperative, and a member of the Churchville Ruritan Club. He enjoyed working with antique cars and was a member of the Antique Car Club of Harford County, the National Car Club and the Auburn Cord Duesenburg Car Club. He was also an avid goose hunter who enjoyed traveling. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn F. Anderson Smith of Bel Air; four sons, Ronald B. Smith, and his wife Holly, of Kingsville, MD, S. David Fielder, and his wife Theresa, G. Randolph Fielder, and his wife Kathy and Mark K. Fielder, and his wife Ellen, all of Churchville, MD; one daughter, Donna L. Thompson, and her husband Dana, of Churchville, MD; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Claude Smith; and a sister, Hazel Sweatt.

Pallbearers will be George Smith, Thomas Adams, Sr., Dr. Donald Merryman, Andrew Lohr, Donald Lomax, James Smith, Howard Smith and Charles Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Knight, Ernest Myers, Everett Brannon and Donald Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Terrell W. Gentry Memorial Fund; c/o The Churchville Ruritan Club; P. O. Box 102; Churchville, MD 21028.
