Harold ''Pete'' Leedy

September 11, 1927 — October 16, 2011

Harold "Pete" Leedy, of Franklinville, MD, died October 16, 2011. He was 84.

He is survived by Betty Jane (nee Hudson) Leedy, to whom he was married for 55 years. Born in Wilna, MD, he was the son of the late Athel Spurgeon and Ruth Leedy.

Pete Leedy was an active member of Franklinville Presbyterian Church where he was also the Treasurer. He loved to talk, and as a veteran of the Army, he loved sharing his experiences of the time he was stationed in Alaska. He was an extremely proud member, for 65 years, of the Operating Engineers Local 37 in Baltimore. He was always very involved with his family and more than willing to help anyone who needed a hand. He liked RVing and had been all over the country except for California and loved motorcycle racing where his nickname was "Sprocket". Pete was the President of the Freestate Snappers Camping Club for 17 years.

Mr. Leedy is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Leedy of Forest Hill and Doug and Sandy Leedy of Airville, PA; five grandchildren, Amanda Leedy, Lindsay Leedy, Rachel Leedy, Brittany Greenwood, and Crystal Gurosko; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Greenwood, Steven Gurosko, Caitlyn Gurosko, and Josie Gurosko; sister, Edna Davenport of Joppa, MD; niece, Sherry Backof of Forest Hill, MD; nephew, Kenny Davenport of Lawtell, LA; aunt, Maude Umberger of Wytheville, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Larry L. Leedy, Doug H. Leedy, Don Fannin, Jim Worcester, Shane Curtis, and Robert Powers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Franklinville Presbyterian Church, 11846 Franklinville Road, Kingsville, MD 21087.
