Born on July 27, 1932, he was the second son of Edward and Edna (Hammon) Reed. He grew up in the city of Bellevue, New Jersey where between the ages of eight and nine, he delivered groceries for the Mullers Corner Store, pulling the deliveries in a wagon. On July 16, 1960, he married Kay (Tipton) Reed of Perryville at St. Marks Church. They went on to have two children, which they both adored. He served in U.S. Army Intelligence as a 1st Lieutenant, primarily at the Pentagon. He went on to work in sales and development for Interpace, Lock Joint, and most recently, Kappe Associates. Throughout his life, he was active in several organizations and churches, most notably: Maryland Emmaus, the Engineers Club, Upward Sports, and many other organizations that he passionately and faithfully served. In his later years, he served as a Deacon and Elder within his church congregation and acted as Assistant Coach for his grandson’s basketball team. He loved to watch sporting events (especially football & basketball), eat pizza, and enjoyed all things sweet, especially chocolate.
