H. George Baker Jr., age 85, of Edgewood, MD, passed away on August 22, 2013 at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, MD. Born in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Horace George Baker Sr. and Ruth Dennison Baker. A 21 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Government as a Journalist in the Public Information Office at Edgewood Arsenal. He enjoyed fishing, wood crafts, collecting lighthouses and traveling. He loved his family and his wife of 63 years.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Elinor G. Baker; sons, George Gary Baker and wife, Tam, of California and Gregory Phillip Baker and wife, Constance, of Germany; daughter, Kathleen Anderson and husband, Mark, of Maryland; brothers, Arthur Baker of Maine and Kenneth Baker and wife, Sandra, of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, James O'Brian of Hollywood, Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ruth O'Brian.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a later date.
