H. Gary Newsom

H. Gary Newsom, age 67, of Edgewood, MD, died on June 5, 2009, at Stella Maris, Timonium, MD. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Herbert Garrison and Louise Aline Burton Newsom, and husband of the late Mildred Eliza Howcroft Newsom. A veteran of the US Navy, he served our country during the Vietnam War. He worked for Lockheed Martin where he was a Quality Engineer.

Mr. Newsom is survived by a son, Gary W. Newsom of Edgewood, MD; daughter, Laura Aline Newsom of Abingdon, MD; brother, John William Newsom of PA; and sister, Aline Louise Shore of Cape May, NJ.

Mr. Newsom was very active in Boy Scouts - Troop 978 and Pack 369. He was Vice President of the Joppatowne Recreation Council. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with wood. He was a member of the Mt. Arrarat Lodge where he was one of Santa's helpers at Christmas time. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and became a Stephen Minister.
