Guy A. Carter

January 10, 1920 — July 30, 2005

GUY A. CARTER, age 85, of Bel Air, died of bladder cancer in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on July 30, 2005. Born in Shorts Creek, Virginia, he was the son of the late George R. and Minta Frances Lineberry Carter. A member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America #101, he was a carpenter foreman. He owned and operated a used car sales lot in Fallston, and operated the Gulf Gas Station in Fountain Green for several years. He helped to build the Conowingo Dam where he was a foreman. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed eating any type of pie. He served his country in the U.S. Army serving overseas during WW II. He fought in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe earning medals for Good Conduct, the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon and the WW II Victory Ribbon

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 33 years, Blandena Smith Carter; one son, Gerry R. Carter of Bel Air; two daughters, Guyda A. Bostic of Bel Air, Geneva Mae Johnson of North East, Maryland; two step-daughters, Norma Jean Kerley of Bel Air, and Louise Wright of Bel Air; six grandchildren, Shayna M. Carter, Michael Carter, Matthew Carter, Sara Rene Carter, and Michelle Louise Wright all of Bel Air, and Timothy Wilson Wright of Rising Sun, MD; two great-grandchildren, Tabitha M. Wright of Rising Sun, MD and Ashley Brook Cochran of Bel Air. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Glenn R. Carter.
