Gust Buchannan Manos

GUST BUCHANNAN MANOS, age 82, of Virginia Beach, VA, died on August 16, 2008 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA. Born in Magnolia, MD, he was the son of the late Gust and Lydia Howard Moore Manos and husband, for 28 years, of the late Nella Manos. He was a 25 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on the destroyer, the "U.S.S. Shield", did deep sea diving, and commissioned the carrier, the U.S.S. America. He attended the one room school house in Magnolia, lived in Queens, NY for six years, lived in Madonna, MD for 20 years and also lived in Edgewood for a few years.

Mr. Manos is survived by two daughters, Myrna Rose Carroll and her husband, Floyd, of Virginia Beach, VA and Jeanette Gustine Manos of Santa Clara, CA; two brothers, Louis Manos and his wife, Virginia, of Abingdon, MD; and Kenneth Manos and his wife, Kathy, of Edgewood, MD; sister, Lydia Anderson and her husband, John, of Abingdon, MD; three grandchildren, Floyd Carroll III of New Market, VA, Stacy Carroll Spruill and her husband, Jack, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Louis Manos of California; and four great-grandchildren, Baileigh Rae Spruill and Callie Jayne Spruill, both of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dalton Hunter Carroll and Garrett Jackson Carroll, both of New Market, VA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, John Manos.
