Gregory Alan Dorrell Sr.

Gregory Alan Dorrell Sr. "Pastor Snookums", age 60, of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away peacefully on January 13, 2020 at his home. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late William and Ada (Williams) Dorrell. A graduate of Polytechnic High School class of 1977, he also attended St. Mary’s Seminary and earned his Master’s in Religion at Lincoln Christian College. He previously worked for Baltimore City DPW and Baltimore Gas and Electric. His ministry career included serving families in Maple View Baptist Church, Abingdon Community Baptist Church, Edgewood Baptist Church, Riverside Baptist Church, Grandview Christian Church, New Hope Christian Church in Virginia and First Christian Church of Havre de Grace. He also provided service to families at Ruck Funeral Home, McComas Funeral Home and the Salvation Army of Havre de Grace.

Gregory was charming and well loved by hundreds. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of Pythagoras Lodge, a 32 degree Mason in the Boumi Temple Lodge where he performed in the Shrine Circus as “Spots” the clown as well as the Emmaus community. He enjoyed playing guitar and spending time with his family and friends. His children say he always joked that ‘surviving the raising of his 3 children' was his biggest accomplishment. He had the heart for service and was always willing to help someone.

Gregory is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dawn Dorrell; children, Carol Abdill (Steven), Gregory A. Dorrell Jr. (Veronica) and Jessica Wolfe (Christopher Sr.); sister, Ada K. Matthews; grandchildren, Joshua, Kaysie, Jacob, Belle, Tiberius, Kaitlyn, and Christopher Jr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army Corp of Harford and Cecil County.
