Granville "Mr. Christmas" Gilbert, 78, of Linthicum, MD passed away on February 19, 2015 at his home. Born in Aberdeen, MD, he was the son of the late Tredwell and Annie Gilbert. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during the Korean War and retired from NSA where he was a Research Analyst. His joy was his family and he enjoyed giving his time to others. His love of Christmas brought attention to various media. He was in a segment on the Today Show for his love of the holiday and Channel 13's George Bowman gave him the name "Mr. Christmas". He held Open Houses with his Christmas Display and took donations that he received and forwarded them to his church missions. Baltimore Magazine and the Sun paper also did articles about his love for Christmas.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his son, Scott Gilbert and wife, Sharon, of Linthicum; daughter, Vicki L. Alldredge and husband, Del, of Hampstead; sister, Vallaree Hopkins of Level; grandchildren, Police Officer 1st Class Jeffrey Scott Kelley of Glen Burnie, Alexandra Lynn Mascolo of Hampstead, Airman 1st Class Matthew Vincent Mascolo of North Dakota, Benjamin Christopher Gilbert of Linthicum and Emma Kate Gilbert of Linthicum. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Hugh Gilbert.
