Grace E. Yates

GRACE E. YATES, age 71, of Edgewood, MD, died on July 26, 2006 at the Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born in Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Kelly and Margerie Lynn Lucille Matthews Hagy. She was a machine operator for the Bata Shoe Company. She attended Rosedale Baptist Church. Her family said that she loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and helping people. She loved to cook for people and was loved by all of her children.

Mrs. Yates is survived by her husband, James Walter Yates, Sr. of Edgewood, MD; five sons, Mark T. Hagy of Joppatowne, MD, Christopher Abshire of Bel Air, MD, James W. Yates, Jr. of Edgewood, MD, Joseph W. Yates of Bel Air, MD and John W. Yates of Edgewood, MD; two daughters, Romona F. Hagy of Hartwood, VA and Carolyn A. Kearns of Edgewood, MD; two brothers, Dewey A. Hagy of Upper Marlboro, MD and Larry W. Hagy of Edgewood, MD; five sisters, Nellie G. Reyes of Aberdeen, MD, Margaret V. Abshire of Roanoke, VA, Juanita M. Bellique of California, Shirley A. Leisure of Aberdeen, MD and Brenda S. Miller of Whiteford, MD; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Margerie L. Hagy.
