Gordon Lee Seibold, of Forest Hill, passed away on May 4, 2022, at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Harry Cadwalter Seibold and Nora Corinne (Harkins) Seibold. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lynn Seibold.
Gordon is survived by a nephew, Randall of Belcamp.
Gordon attended school in Harford County and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1953. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and served in the Air Defense Command, Airways and Air Communication Service until 1959.
In 1960, he secured employment with International Telephone and Telegraph Company in Paramus, New Jersey. As a technical representative, he worked throughout the United States on various civilian, Army and Naval projects. Among them were Nike missile systems and Polaris missile submarines. Other locations he worked included the ice cap of Greenland, Scotland, Spain, Hawaii, Guam, and last, Vietnam. There, he maintained Air Navigation equipment on the hospital ship USS Repose. The med-evac helicopters utilized the equipment to bring the wounded military personnel directly and quickly to the medical facility.
As a change of pace. He secured employment with Philadelphia Electric Company in 1968. He worked at the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant, Muddy Run Pump Storage Generating Plant, and Conowingo Hydro Station. He retired in 1990 with 22 years of service. During this time, he was a member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
Gordon was a lifetime member of the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum at the Martin State Airport. He also volunteered his time at Fallston General Hospital and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for more than 23 years.
He enjoyed his retirement by being with Ms. Joan D. Mattson, her children, and grandchildren. Joan and Gordon traveled extensively throughout the world. They loved being with each other. Joan passed away in December 2014 after an extensive battle with cancer.
