Gladys M. Davis

Gladys Evelyn Moxley Davis, age 86, formerly of Bel Air, MD, passed away on Thursday evening, August 13, 2009 at Pleasant Valley in Argyle, NY, with her family at her side. Born June 19, 1923 in Bel Air, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mack Coy and Octavia Cooper Moxley Sr. and wife of the late Paul M. Davis who passed away October 1996. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Bel Air before moving to Salem, NY in 2004. She had been a member of Bel Air United Methodist Church for 56 years and the choir for many years, as well as, the United Methodist Women and the Asbury Home Guild. She was a charter member of the Starlighters Square Dance Club, which she belonged to for 37 years, and was recognized by the Bel Air Recreation Committee in 2000 for 35 years as a volunteer.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, James M. Davis of Woodbridge, VA, Donald L. Davis and wife, Elaine, of Salem, NY, Thomas E. Davis of Bel Air, MD, and Sylvia A. Devlin and husband, John, of Laurel, MD; brothers, Ralph P. Moxley of Jarrettsville, MD and Mack Coy Moxley Jr. of Bel Air, MD; sister, Geneva D. Finney of Havre de Grace, MD; and granddaughters, Melissa J. Devlin of Laurel, MD, Amanda M. and Abigail M. Davis, of Salem, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Marie M. Cox.

Pallbearers will be Jim Davis, Don Davis, Tom Davis, John Devlin, Mick Moxley and Adrian Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Moxley and Herbert Cox.
