Gladys Ellen Ertwine

GLADYS ELLEN ERTWINE, age 90, of Pylesville, MD, died on December 20, 2006, at Forest Hill Health & Rehabilitation, Forest Hill, MD. Born in Willing, NY, she was the daughter of the late William August and Clara Ardel Marshall Schrader, formerly of Whotesville, NY, and wife of the late Harold William Ertwine Sr., formerly of Unityville, PA. Formerly of Whitesville, NY, she lived most of her life in Middle River, MD. As a child, she would swipe her father’s work horses and wear them out so they couldn’t work. In the early 1960’s, she began waitressing and cooking at Wilhelms of Wilson Point, where she was well known for her steaks. She enjoyed traveling all over.

Mrs. Ertwine is survived by three sons, Charles Robert Ertwine of Milford, DE, Harold William Ertwine Jr. of Joppa, MD, and Bentley Raymond Ertwine of Pylesville, MD; five daughters, Ruth Elaine Norris of Pylesville, MD, Particia Ann Jorgenson of Belcamp, MD, Carolyn Jeanette Hofmann of Edgewood, MD, Rita Mae Boerger of El Paso, TX, and Mary Esther Norris of Whiteford, MD; one sister, Anna Hattie Flamini of Whitesville, NY; twenty grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Shirley Jean Ertwine; four brothers, Gerald “Dutch” Schrader, Glen Schrader, George Schrader, and Bernard Schrader; one sister, Grace Marie Payne; and one great grandson, John William Michalik Jr.
