Gillard ''Gil'' A. Sutherland

Gillard "Gil" A. Sutherland, age 82, of Joppa, MD, died on May 17, 2009 at his home. Born in Coeburn, VA, he was the youngest of eleven children of the late George Brittian and Sarah Lavinia Holbrook Sutherland. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during WWII. He worked in customer sales service for a paper manufacturing company and was a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Covington, VA. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Sutherland is survived by his daughter, Nancy S. Beswick, John Beswick, granddaughter, Sarah E. Lewis and husband, Marc Lewis, all of Joppa, MD.
