Gertrude Ward

GERTRUDE WARD, age 94, of Aberdeen, died at her home on February 27, 2006. Born in Wooster, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Oscar David and Beulah Independence Houser Kaufman and the wife of the late Dwight M. Ward. Formerly of Wooster, Ohio where she lived for 81 years, she moved to Harford County in 1993. She enjoyed attending proms in Wayne County, Ohio and reading palms of the students. She was commissioned to do portraits of well known people including Liberace, Shirley Jones and the parents of Buck Owens. She was a well known local artist and teacher in Wooster, Ohio. She started the SPCA in Wooster, Ohio and was an ebullient and energetic person who loved people and animals.

Mrs. Ward is survived by a daughter, Patricia L. Ward of Aberdeen, MD and a sister, Frances Barger of Athens, OH.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, David Kaufman and two sisters, Mildred Jenkins and Kathryn Urban.
