Gerard P. Shabe, Cdr, Usm (Ret)

Gerard P. Shabe Sr., CDR, USN (Ret), age 80, of Fallston, MD, died on August 18, 2010 at his home. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Albert Joseph and Mina Kitchen Shabe. He retired, as a Commander, after 23 ½ years with the U.S. Navy. He also worked for Martin Marietta as a Systems Analyst Manager, retiring from there in 1994. An active member of St. Mark Catholic Church, he facilitated two Bible Study Groups and served on the Parish council. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector and was the Lay Presider at the 7:30 Friday communion services. An Adjunct Professor, he taught Information Technology at Villa Julie and Harford Community College, as well as, colleges in Virginia and Washington D.C. He also had an interest in pottery, and worked with that for 50 years.

Mr. Shabe was the beloved husband, for 58 years, of Lois F. Shabe of Fallston, MD; devoted father of Gerard Peter Shabe Jr. and wife, Maria, of Mountain View, CA, Christopher Robert Shabe of Fallston, MD, and Suzanne Marie Shabe of Bel Air, MD; loving brother of, Laurence A. Shabe and wife, Mirielle, of Columbia, MD, John E. Shabe and wife, Carol, of Miami, FL, and Joan Marie Corless of Trumbull, CT. He is also survived by grandchildren, Timothy G. and Andrew J. Forrester, both of Bel Air, MD, and Lauren M. Shabe of Mountain View, CA; and multiple beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and William Shabe.
