Geraldine Sylvia Cragg, 74, of Northeast, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Herman and Sylvia (Bem) Skillman and the devoted wife of the late James Cragg.
Geraldine was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Perryville, where her faith and kindness touched many lives. In her younger years, she found joy in volunteering with the Catholic War Veterans and serving at Perry Point VA Hospital. Her career as a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Grounds’ Edgewood Research, Development, and Engineering Center spanned decades, and she retired in 2010 with fond memories and friendships.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Geraldine enjoyed traveling and treasured the time spent with her grandson and family. She had a deep passion for flowers and gardening, filling her home and heart with beauty. In her younger years, she delighted in playing BINGO and was a loyal listener of WXCY radio, where her enthusiasm won her an array of prizes, including a pool table, a snowblower, and countless trips to Disney on Ice.
Geraldine’s kind spirit, unwavering dedication to family, and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Gayla Denise Cragg; grandson, Andrew (Esther) James Cragg and brother, Edwin Skillman.
In addition to her husband and parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by brothers, Herman Skillman, Jr., Robert Louis Skillman, William Lee Skillman, Arthur Albert Skillman and sister, Jeanne McDevitt.
