Gerald "Jerry" Sandmeier, age 68, of Churchville, MD passed away on November 10, 2017 at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in Ipswich, SD, he was the son of Ruben Jacob and Darlene Esther (Fischer) Sandmeier. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served at Aberdeen Proving Ground during the Vietnam War. He liked to fix things and anything that someone was throwing away; he could find a use for after fixing it! He loved to be with his grandchildren, friends and family, and videotaping the family so he could have the memories. He also liked to garden.
Mr. Sandmeier is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Ellen Sandmeier (nee Cockerham); two sons, Michael (Heather) R. Sandmeier of Bel Air and Jeremy (Michelle) W. Sandmeier of Edgewood; grandson, Alexander J. Sandmeier; brother, Warren J. Sandmeier of Huron, SD; and sister, Edie (Tom Porter) Sandmeier of Crystal, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Devon M. Sandmeier.
