George John Widman, 85, of Joppa, MD, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Franklin Square Hospital. Born in Joppa, MD on February 26, 1936, he was the son of the late John Widman and Anna Huber Widman. George is survived by his wife Brenda Widman, his step-daughter Becky Whitehead, brother John Widman, sister, Joan Meise and sister, Helen Pennell and her husband Bob, as well as grandson’s Andrew and Matthew Whitehead, granddaughter Melissa Whitehead, 5 great grand-children and many nieces and nephews. He was a 1954 graduate of Bel Air high school. George served his country in the U.S. army, spending most of his time in Japan and continued to work for the army at Aberdeen Proving Ground for 30 years in the printing department. He also operated his own tree trimming business with the help of his two sons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Widman is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Widman, his sons Robert Allen Widman, and George Michael Widman. George’s life will be celebrated on July 17, 2021, 11am at his beloved parish, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Bradshaw. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, located at 8030 Bradshaw Rd., Kingsville, MD 21087.
