GEORGE W. BEATY, 76, of Joppa, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on November 6, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Henry Charles and Mary Elizabeth Stephen Beaty and the husband of 50 years of Virginia Mary Smith Beaty. For over 55 years, he owned and operated The Central Sign Company. During this time he installed the first McDonalds, Burger King and Arby signs in 1963. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 30 years. He served in the US Army Air Force where he was in charge of the machine shop at the Munich Reems Air Force Base in Munich, Germany. A resident of Joppa for 50 years, he and his wife built their own home. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and was a past boy scout leader having built various parade floats for the boy scouts. He built his own 25 foot aluminum boat.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Beaty is survived a son, Robert Lee Beaty of Joppatowne; a daughter, Donna Feliceangeli of Clayton, Delaware; and a granddaughter, Lauren Virginia Feliceangeli of Clayton, Delaware.
