GEORGE “DOUG” SHERMAN, age 82, of Street, died in Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore, on April 11, 2004. Born in Churchville, he was the son of the late Walter Henry, Sr. and Bessie May Bodt Sherman. He had retired from his job with the State of Maryland as a shop clerk. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he had a passion for the history of the town of Bel Air. His family said the most important things to him were his family and his garden. He was a farmer at heart.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife of 13 years, E. Jean Sherman; one son, Robert Douglas Sherman and his wife, Carol of Bel Air; two daughters, Helen Virginia Fender and her husband, Joe of Birch Tree, Missouri; Norma Jean Klein and her husband, Charles of Street; one step-daughter, Lois Kay Richardson and her husband Guy of Street; one brother, Walter Henry Sherman, Jr. of Havre de Grace; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Sadie B. Heaton Sherman.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Burns, John Sherman, Steve Klein, Tim Fender, Wayne Fender, Kevin Fender; and alternate, Tony Cocharan.
