George David Shaver “Dave”, age 70, of Fallston, Maryland, passed away after a long fight with AML on February 7, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland Born in Baltimore, he was the beloved son of the late George and June (Burton) Shaver.
A devoted husband, Dave shared 33 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Lauren (Josenhans) Shaver. Their love story was as adventurous as his spirit—he proposed mid-air while piloting a plane, sealing the moment with a thrilling barrel roll.
Dave’s passion for aviation began early; at just 16, he completed his first solo flight. Over the years, he earned multiple flight ratings, flew a wide range of aircraft, and was honored with the FAA’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for his dedication to aviation safety. His love for flying extended beyond personal achievement—he gave back to the community by participating in Angel Flights, providing free air transportation for medical patients, and inspiring young aviators through Young Eagles flights. He even took to the skies for airshows, sharing his enthusiasm with countless spectators.
Beyond the cockpit, Dave found joy in duck hunting and had a deep appreciation for John Deere tractors, owning and caring for several over the years.
Dave lived life with passion, generosity, and a sense of adventure that touched everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Dave was an avid member of Forest Hill Presbyterian Church and knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He is now seeing the joys of eternity.
